I began painting seriously in 2002 soon after leaving high school. I am self-taught and learn by experiment and observation. My work is an exploration of the close connection I feel with the landscape, flora and fauna of New Zealand. The phrase 'home is where the sense of self is deeply stirred' is an apt description of my feelings towards a place where I feel I belong, the South Island of New Zealand. I am inspired and captivated by many aspects of the New Zealand environment, and am continually looking for new ways to respond to these varied interests within the medium of oil paint.
